For more than fifty years, Camp Ramah in California has brought people together from across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Israel to expand their own creativity, learn from dynamic teachers and specialists, explore being Jewish in today’s world and experience the beauty of nature. Young people at Ramah develop leadership skills, lasting friendships and a strong Jewish consciousness. The list of esteemed rabbis and Jewish educators as well as distinguished lay and Jewish communal leaders who were campers or staff members (or both) at Camp Ramah in California is long; more important, their impact on Jewish communities across the globe now and in the future is immeasurable.

Today, Camp Ramah in California is a key component of leadership development for the Conservative movement in the Western United States, in conjunction with the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies.  At this juncture in our history, independence as a result of purchasing the Ojai camp property from American Jewish University provides new and exciting opportunities for growth and development for Camp Ramah in California to meet the growing and changing needs of the Jewish population in the Western United States.

We are now hosting the 3rd generation of camper families in our community, while continuing to provide the consistency of Judaic programming that has been our hallmark for over five decades. We have a simple but clear vision for the future: keeping camp accessible for all Jewish children by making certain that no child is ever denied a summer at Camp Ramah for financial reasons.
