Thanks!
With this web page, Camp Ramah in California wishes to thank all whose philanthropic gifts have helped our facilities and programming remain on the cutting edge of the Jewish camping world - from the families who have been long-time supporters to the most recent, brand-new donors.
Fundraising for Camp Ramah has a variety of components:
-
We seek support for camp's general operations and programs as well as for scholarships, via gifts to the Camp Ramah Fund all through the year. Staff in the Los Angeles office work year-round, facilitating enrollment for each summer as well as planning many special programs at camp - Winter Camp, Passover Institute, Family Camp - to mention just a few! Similarly, a small group of dedicated staff members remain in Ojai all year, maintaining the camp facilities and managing those special programs. A devoted group of Ramah volunteers work tirelessly to review the many requests for financial assistance, making certain that a dynamic Jewish learning and cultural experience can be available each summer to all children in need. -
Each year, those being honored at the gala Winter Event have the opportunity to ask their friends and colleagues to direct their gifts to a specific need at camp. Camp facilities as well as the Barnhard Mador Young Leadership Endowment, the Tikvah Program Endowment, and the Scholarship Endowment Fund all have grown thanks to such generosity. Most recently, we honored Marvin and Shirley Selter on Thursday, December 3, 2009. The dinner was held at their synagogue, Sinai Temple, with proceeds directed to the Dr. David Lieber Scholarship Endowment Fund. Click here to view the video created for the dinner. - In 2008, Ilana and Mark Meskin were honored on December 4th. The dinner took place at their synagogue, Adat Ari El, in Valley Village, raising over $350,000 with proceeds directed toward the construction of a new, expanded Ropes Course at camp. - The 2007 Winter Event took place on December 6th at Sinai Temple, honoring Sheila and Aaron Leibovic for their efforts on behalf of Camp Ramah and the Los Angeles Jewish community. The Leibovic family requested that gifts made in their honor be directed towards the construction of a second swimming pool, with water slides. Thanks to the generosity of the Leibovics, their family, friends, and members of the Ramah community, the goal of raising $500,000 for the pool and water slides was not only met, but exceeded! - The 2006 Winter Event was the fabulous 50th Anniversary Celebration held on December 3rd, 2006 at camp. The honorees, Camp Ramah in California's distinguished directors over our first 50 years, asked that gifts made in their honor be directed to help the camp continue to remain affordable for the entire Jewish community, offering excellence in programming in the best facility possible, for the next 50 years and beyond. - Each year, many supporters of Camp Ramah make contributions in honor or memory of family and friends. Consider celebrating a simcha such as an anniversary, birth, birthday, bar or bat mitzvah, new home or new job, or remembering yours or a friend's loved one through our Tribute Gifts. Camp Ramah in California has embarked upon a major capital and endowment campaign - Forward at Fifty - to ensure the camp's ability to continue to remain affordable for the entire Jewish community, offering excellence in programming in the best facility possible, for the next 50 years and beyond.
